Photoshoot with Eva Grace Photography | Prép Beauty Parlour

One who browses our dream- like Instagram page will see that we are often doing different types of collaborations and photoshoots. Prép is a salon, but we also hope to establish a community where we can all support and promote each other in a fun, sister- bond way! We are huge fans of working with local talent because not only do we get exposure and experience from working with these individuals through their channels, we also make great friends and connections along the way!

This past month we collaborated with a few local models, athletes, and photographers to put together a small photoshoot to get to know each other while creating memories! Photographer @EvaGracePhoto opted for a care-free, relaxing beach vibe in this photoset. Eva Grace tells us that her:

“style of photography is fun and creative! I’m not about the stiff awkward poses, because truly those are not the ones that represent who you really are.”

The two lovely models in this shoot are the gorgeous @HaydenKortemoore, whose Instagram is filled with travel and adventure photos, and the classy fashionista @MegSayle. Hair and Makeup by Mika and Miku from Prép (us!), of course!

Last week we asked you lovely ladies if you wanted to see a review and our thoughts on some magnetic lashes! We were very lucky to have sent some from TOK Beauty to test out!

The magnetic lashes come in a pack of 4- both top & bottom for both eyes, or in double sets. They come in a beautiful packaging and have a magnet where the lashes reside on. The TOK Beauty website claim the magnetic lashes to be “user friendly, cruelty free and all natural” (TOK Beauty). So what are our thoughts? Let’s dive right in!

“User Friendly” …

Well.. Not exactly. Although the lashes were a beautiful, wispy style, they were very difficult to apply because of how stiff the lashes were. We also found the lashes to be quite short and thus- didn’t fit completely on the eye (at least for our model!). We think that with more practice, we may be able master the art of applying these fun magnetic lashes!

Overall, we think this is a fun a cool concept for those who don’t often put on a lot of makeup! Just slightly difficult to apply. Perhaps if we get more practice applying the lashes we can get them to look much more natural! For now- we’ll just stick to our lashes extensions!

As one of Prép Beauty Parlour’s newest members, Miku, (yes! You read that correct! Miku, not Mika who we all know and love!) is one of Prép’s most promising artists! Not only is Miku a fabulous make- up artist, but is a hair stylist and dresser as well! She is able to do blow-outs, cuts, and highly skilled in prom/grad hair, as well as intricate wedding up-dos. Before her arrival in Vancouver early Spring 2017, Miku worked at Chiba Salon in Tokyo as the salon manager. Miku is able to do a variety of make up looks, from natural and cute, to glamorous, red- carpet ready looks! Miku says her favourite events to do are party makeup, photoshoots, and of course, Prép’s favourite as well- weddings! Make- up and hair is not Miku’s only area of expertise! She also does pedicures at Prép and loves to help with large spa parties! She has worked alongside Mika with many bloggers and influencers such as Instagram Influencer Chailee Son, and Blanca Blandon from Vancouver’s ‘Populist’.

Besides loving to do hair and makeup, Miku spends her free time watching movies- sometimes back to back- at the theatre and has a guilty pleasure of loving all unhealthy foods! (Though the team at Prép oppose to this as a problem and continue to open their hands to all of Miku’s goodies!)

For starters, any YUMI™ Lash Lift with Keratin Treatment can only be performed by a certified YUMI™ technician. What’s the process of a lash lift you ask? Although it may sounds scary, a lash lift is essentially a painless and safe way to semi- permanently curl your lashes! It’s perfect for ladies who fear the lash curler (guilty!!), have lush, long lashes that droop down, or just any ladies that love the way their lashes look curled! The process is simple. Your Prép technician will prep the surface and lay a gel pad to ensure none of the solution will touch your skin, baby lashes, etc. A silicon bump is then laid on top for your top lashes to sit on top. The larger the bump– the bigger and looser the curl and vice versa! It should last you from 4-6+ (We have gotten 12 weeks too!) weeks depending on your natural lashes and lash cycle!

So what is the difference with YUMI™? YUMI™ lift uses advanced technology and technique to lift all of the lashes individually. This allows your lashes to appear longer, fuller, and darker!

What does it mean when you get a YUMI™ lash lift? Unlike lash extensions, you don’t have to worry about getting fills, removals, or any touch- up treatments! There is no maintenance, no parabens, and no harsh chemicals!
