YUMI lash lift and tint FAQ | Prép Beauty Parlour |

Wanting to take a break from eyelash extensions, or have you tried them and they just weren’t for you? Although we absolutely love lash extensions at Prép, we understand that it is not for everyone! That is why we also offer the YUMI lash lift and tint treatment at our salon in downtown, Vancouver! Before you try them out, here are some frequently asked questions about the lash lift and tint…

 

 

 

 

 

 

Q: How long does one treatment of the YUMI lash lift last?
A: One treatment lasts you 8-12 weeks! The tint portion of the service tends to fade first, so some ladies choose to come in to re-tint their lashes earlier. ♡ 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Q: Is it like eyelash extensions where I have to come in for ‘fill’ every few weeks?
A: No, unlike the eyelash extensions you do not need to come in every few weeks, or every 8-12 weeks. When the lift begins to fall, it is very subtle and happens over time. You won’t notice a dramatic change in your lashes. However, many ladies fall in love with the treatment and we often see them back every few months! ♡ 

Q: How long does the service take?
A: The YUMI lash lift and tint takes about 75 minutes in total to complete.♡ 

Q: Can it be done while on latisse?
A: Absolutely! After using growth serums like EyEnvy, the lift results are much more dramatic and make your lashes look very luscious. It is recommended to use products like latisse or EyEnvy for 2-3 months before getting the lift for optimal results!

Q: Will the YUMI lash lift add length to my lashes? Will it make them longer?
A: No. Although the YUMI lash lift will not make your lashes longer, it ‘lifts’ them from the root, which make your lashes look longer and fuller. The tint also makes a big difference for ladies with blonde or brunette lashes. ♡ 

Q: What do I do for aftercare?
A: The YUMI lash lift is very low maintenance! The only aftercare that is essential is to not get your lashes wet for 24 hours (although 48 hours is recommended). We also carry 2 brands of keratin aftercare…. using the keratin nourish mascara after getting a YUMI lash lift will prolong the life of your lashes, hydrate them, and get rid of any crossing of your lashes that you may notice. Although not necessary, it is highly recommended! Especially after more that one YUMI lash lift treatment. After your appointment, we will send you off with a mascara wand, so make sure to comb your lashes out once or twice a day. ♡ 

Q: Do you have to already have long lashes to get a YUMI lash lift?
A: No you don’t! Ladies with shorter lashes certainly can get YUMI lash lifts as well… the results may be a bit more subtle though. However, after getting a lash lift the real length of your lashes really come out! ♡ 

Q: Will the YUMI lash lift damage my lashes?
A: The YUMI brand of lash lift is the best in the market, and contains no harsh chemicals. Your lashes definitely won’t be damaged afterwards, but it is certainly worthwhile to use the keratin mascara afterwards to keep them healthy and hydrated, while keeping your YUMI look fresh! ♡ 

Q: How do I prepare for my YUMI lash lift appointment?
A: Please arrive to your appointment with no eye makeup on. ♡ 

Q: Can I still wear mascara after I get a YUMI lash lift?
A: Yes you can! After the 24-48 hour window after your appointment, you are free to continue your makeup routine as normal! ♡ 

Q: What if I want a more natural and subtle looking lift?
A: We offer 3 different ‘sizes’ of lifts: small, medium, and large. The larger the bump on the silicone pad, the more subtle the lift and visa versa. Pictured below, is a YUMI lash lift in progress using a small silicone pad (the most dramatic lift size). ♡ 

Q: Does it hurt?
A: Not at all! Most people fall asleep during the appointment. ♡ 

Q: Are the YUMI lash lift products vegan/ cruelty free?
A: Yes they are! ♡ 

Q: Why do the lashes look wet in the after photos?
A: After we remove the tint, we apply a keratin nourishing mascara to your lashes. This is why they look wet! After the 24 hour initial period, your lashes will be looking light and fluffy. ♡ 

Q: Does the YUMI Lash lift service include a tint as well? Or is there an extra charge for the tint?
A: Yes! The YUMI Lash lift includes a complimentary tint. However, there are definitely some ladies who decide they do not want to get the tint when they already have dark lashes. ♡ 

Q: Can I get eyelash extensions shortly after getting a YUMI Lash lift?
A: Unfortunately not, your lashes will be too lifted to apply the extensions. However, if you decide to get lash extensions while your lashes are still lifted, give us a call and we can book you in to relax your lashes. This is about a 15 minute process that will essentially ‘relax’ your lashes to their baseline curl. ♡ 

Q: Can I react to YUMI products? Can I be allergic?
A: No you can’t- unless you are allergic to the glue (which is a sugar base). ♡ 

Q: What is the difference between a lash lift and an eyelash perm?
A: A YUMI Lash lift works to lift your lashes up from the base. This will make them look longer! A eyelash perm typically will ‘curl’ them from the middle of your lashes… which could actually make them look shorter.

Everything you need to know about the Yumi Lash Lift and Tint | Prép Beauty Parlour |

Thinking about getting a Yumi lash lift and tint but don’t know if it’s going to be right for you? Here is everything you need to know about the Yumi lash lift and tint done at Prép Beauty Parlour in Vancouver.

The Yumi lash lift and tint works with your natural lashes to lift them and give a longer and more volumized look to your lashes. This does not mean that you need to already have long lashes to get a Yumi lash lift though! Ladies with shorter lashes can most definitely get a Yumi lash lift as well- it may just be on the more subtle side.

So what’s the process?

First, your technician will start with laying down gel pads.

Next, we use three different “sizes” of lifts- small, medium, and large. The smaller the silicone pad, the more dramatic the lift…

The lift also includes a complimentary lash tint- which can make all the difference especially for ladies with light blonde or brunette lashes! The tint paired with the lift brings out the true length in your natural lashes.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The entire Yumi lash lift and tint service takes about one hour and 15 minutes but better yet- results last 8-12 weeks!

Many ladies think that they need to already have long and thick lashes to get a Yumi lash lift and tint… but that is certainly not true! Ladies with shorter lashes also rock the lift.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ladies with long and luxious lashes have AMAZING results after getting a Yumi lash lift! Some with darker lashes, choose not to get the tint to keep the appointment short and sweet. ♡ Take a look at the difference after a YUMI Lash Lift and tint for longer lashes!

 

 

 

 

 

 

So what about aftercare? After care for a Yumi lash lift is simple! You cannot get yours lashes wet for 24 hours (although 48 hours is recommended) but after that window- you are good to go! At the end of your service, you will be sent off with a little mascara brush… give your lashes a brush everyday!  Although optional, (but recommend) apply the YUMI Keratin Mascara twice daily to your lashes to keep them nourished, hydrated and healthy. The Keratin Mascara also prolongs the life of your lash lift, to maximize results! Feel free to continue with your normal makeup routine! Cut down time on your morning routine by waking up with beautiful lashes that are ready for the day!

The YUMI lash lift and tint trend hit 2018 like a train! More ladies are opting for the miraculous lash lift service that lifts and darkens your natural lashes- giving the illusion of added length. All without having to worry about coming in for lash fills and other maintenance. Due to its popularity, we receive many questions about this comparably new lash service, and have put together the perfect guide before you book, YUMI Lash Lift: Is it right for me?

You have luscious and long natural lashes

The YUMI lash lift does an amazing job of giving the eye that extra pop even without the use of mascara and strip lashes. But like everything, it isn’t for everyone. This lash alternative only uses your natural lashes, no extra length or volume, meaning the length of your natural lashes are the extent to how long your lashes will look after the curl, we included a few photos to illustrate the different outcomes to help you decide. Keep scrolling to do your own “test” before you book your appointment!

Do your lashes pass the curl test?

If you are unsure whether your natural lashes would suit a lash lift, we like to ask clients to do a quick test at home before they book their appointment. It’s as simple as curling your lashes with a regular eyelash curler, and seeing how you like the look of your lashes. It is also important to note that your lashes may fall throughout the day using a curler, but will stay curled after the lash lift appointment.

Are you an avid make-up wearer?

The lash lift is a great alternative to lash extensions, but if you are a lover of strip lashes or dramatic volume lash sets, lash extensions may be a better option for you. However, if you wear light makeup- maybe just eyeliner and a dab of mascara, the lash lift looks great and really speeds up the get- ready process in the early mornings. Unlike lash extensions, the Yumi lash lift lifts only your natural lashes, meaning you don’t have to worry about using oil- free products, lash fall out, or having to do gymnastics just to remove makeup without disrupting your lashes. After the 48 hour setting period, you are free to wet your lashes and apply makeup as you normally would without it affecting the longevity of the lift!

Do you plan on getting lash extensions in the near future? 

What’s great about the lash lift, is its long life span of anywhere from 6-8+ weeks (Depending on the length of your own lashes and your lash cycle), and while it lasts a long time, many people may wish to get extensions very soon after their lift appointment. It is important to know that lash extensions cannot be applied within this 8 week period as your natural lashes are too curly to apply extensions.

Will you be getting the lash lift every 6-8 weeks?

Getting a lash lift is a lot like getting your hair permed.. but on a much smaller level. And just like your hair and cuticles, moisture is key to maintaining lashes. If you plan on getting the lash lift treatment done frequently, we recommend the a keratin nourishing oil/lotion we carry to be in your lash health’s best interest. With keratin in the formula, think of it as a building blocks that build and strengthen all the hairs on your body, including your lashes. This can be applied every night before bed or in the morning before your eye makeup routine 48 hours after your initial procedure.

1. How long does it last?

The lash lift should last anywhere from 6-8+ weeks! Sometimes even 12 depending on your natural lash cycle and how fast your lashes shed and grow out! However, some ladies with grown out lashes may notice odd kinks- to solve this, we recommend applying the 3D Keratin Lash conditioner. This conditioner not only has keratin in it, but also conditions and keeps your lashes healthy and shiny!

2. Who is best suited for the YUMI™ lash lift?

The YUMI™ lash lift is suited for those who have strong, healthy lashes! If you have weaker or thinner lashes, we recommend you try out the lash growth serum EYENVY, to grow and strengthen your lashes before the procedure for best results! For those lucky ladies with long and strong natural lashes, the lash lift can look comparable to eyelash extensions!

Yes! The YUMI™ lash treatment is 100% safe for new moms! However the new hormones surrounding the pregnancy may hinder the YUMI™ products from completely performing the service. If you decide to go ahead with the YUMI™ treatment, please do so at your own discretion, and understand there may be no effect on the natural lashes. (Unfortunately due to store policy, Prép Beauty Parlour is unable to offer full refunds for any lash services).

4. How should I prep for my service?

Before your appointment, please refrain from using any eye makeup or remove it before you come to your appointment. This it to avoid any extra added sensitivity surrounding the eye area.

For 24 hours prior, we also ask that you avoid using any growth or lash serums as this may cause the lashes to not lift during the service.

5. Can I get the YUMI™ treatment while I still have lash extensions on?

Unfortunately as the treatment is an enhancement on your natural lashes, the lash extensions will get in the way of the treatment. We also do not want to be adding the perm solution to any synthetic lashes!

6. Can I get lash extensions while I have the YUMI™ lash lift?

Yes and no. Getting a lash lift if you naturally have stick straight, or super curly lashes can help get your natural lashes into a good ‘curve’ and make it easier to apply lash extensions. However if you have naturally long lashes, then get extensions after the lash lift treatment, your natural lashes will be too curvy for the synthetic lash to be applied.

7. Is the treatment vegan friendly?

Yes! The YUMI™ lash lift treatment is vegan, non toxic, hypo allergenic, paraben frees cruelty free, and formaldehyde free!
