NEW Location | Prép Beauty Parlour

After 6 year of being open at our current downtown location – 1054 Hornby Street, we can sadly say that we have really outgrown our space! Being fully booked with 5 lash beds in use, 2 nail desks, and only 2 pedicure chairs, we were starting to get very cramped!

Our long standing 4.5 star rating on Yelp (with over 130 reviews! Check us out here for 10% off your next visit!) has gotten us on the map for best lash bars in Vancouver, and our lovely clients rated us best nails in Narcity and another best of Vancouver for lashes in the West Ender (Read all about that here!) Thank you to all the Prép ladies! We’ve couldn’t have done it without all the love and support we have received throughout the 6 years that we have been open!

With our new location, we anticipate on offering more services to better cater your needs! With 4 brand new, custom made hair & make-up stations, we’re so excited to welcome more technicians, stylists, and of course, more beautiful clients to share the love with!

So many accomplishments have come from our location, and of course, there are many more to come at our new downtown location at 1305 Burrard Street, just a few short blocks away! Our doors are always open for those who want to drop in and we would love to say hello to our new neighbours!

In our private room with our lovely ballroom wall decor, we offer waxing, tinting services, and we anticipate micro blading services in the future!! Stay tuned…

At our new space, we also have lovely new neighbours! As sad as it was for us to say good-bye to our friends at Mine & Yours, and our favourite coffee shop- Honolulu Cafe, we are happy to open our arms to new neighbours at Musette Caffé!

Now onto our favourite wedding or event nail looks! Traditionally, brides would often be seen with a French gel manicure. A French manicure, or pink and white (in the acrylic world..!!), is typically when the tip of the nail is white, while the base is sheer pink or clear. No don’t get us wrong. We LOVE and absolutely adore French nails! But sometimes… it’s just not enough!

French manicures are super classy and neat, essential for the modern business woman. But it doesn’t always suit everybody! For those with a smaller nail bed, getting french nails may shorten the appearance of your nails- leaving them looking stubby. For those who do enjoy wearing gel extensions, but again, have a small nail bed, getting a french extension manicure may mean getting uneven nails! No! Not uneven like bumpy- but uneven in the sense that the white part of the nail may overpower the clear, since all of the white is supposedly the extension.

So now what? No French? What else is the perfect wedding nail manicure? Don’t you worry– Prép has come together and have created a little combo of some of OUR favourite takes on the wedding day perfect nails!

Eyelash Extensions at Prép Beauty Parlour

So you’ve seen our last post here and you think you know everything there is to know about lash extensions..right? Nope! There’s more! And don’t you worry, we’ll be walking you through that today! Today we’ll be going over the different types of lash curls and lengths, as well as styles and which shape would be best suited for you!

The synthetic lash that is glued onto one of your natural lashes come in a variation of styles. At Prép we carry B, C, D, and J/A curls.

Different Lash Extension Looks

A/J curls are the most natural and have the least curl in them. A/J curls have little to no curl at all. As flat, no curl lashes, they blend in the easiest and are perfect for those who are getting lashes for the first time and enjoy a very subtle, natural look.

B curls- B curls are the next level of curls. They have a very slight curl and are again, suitable for those who are wanting a natural look to their extensions. They also suit those who are wanting to simply extend the length of their natural lashes without adding too much drama to them.

C curls- C curls are popular for those who usually wear make-up and enjoy a strong look- thats clear that you’re wearing lash extensions. They may even appear as if you are wearing eyeliner. They are noticeable and look gorgeous!

D curls- D curls are the most dramatic type of curl that we carry. These are good for people who hooded eyes or have lashes that are long, but are covered by the shape of their eye. Many clients will come in and have had experiences with C-Curl lashes and expect a dramatic curl, just to notice that the curls are not visible from the front view and instead, only from a side view.

L & L+ curls- These curls look the same as they are named- an L shape! These can only be made possible in a lash lift and may not suit everybody. It is also important to remember that lashes of different curls, length and width may look different on everybody’s lashes!

Moving onto the lash styles, lash extensions, similar to false strip lashes, can be used to create many looks that can accentuate your eye shape. Prép lash technicians will use a variation of sizes and lengths to design the shape properly for each lovely client.

Lash Extension Styles

Natural- Natural style is good for well, those wanting a natural look! They are closest to the natural eye shape. There may be slightly longer lashes attached near the middle as well as the ends, the extensions should match your natural lash style.

Cat-Eye- Cat eyes are sexy, seductive, and stunning! This style is most fitting for shorter and rounder eyes, and will elongate your eyes. “cat-eyes” for those who are hoping to elongate their eyes without the use of eyeliner. Your lash technician will discuss with you as to which curl works out to be the best for the looks.

Doll/Open- Eye/Cute-Prép recommend “cute” or commonly known as doll eye for those who have longer eyes, this style will really open up your eyes! This kind of style suits those who have smaller eyes. The longer lashes in the middle will open up your eyes and create a doe eye look.
