Bridal Spotlight: Vancouver Bride Natalie

At Prép Beauty Parlour, we get a lot of brides. Lots of brides equals lots of love stories, and we cant get enough of Natalie and Adams’s! Natalie and Adam met on the online dating site Plenty Of Fish. In today’s society, online dating has become quite common, success stories, however, are not quite as often occurring. Combining Adams love of Batman and Natalie’s Hello Kitty obsession, this online match became a real life romance!

Natalie and Adams wedding incorporated fun aspects of the couples personalities and perfectly captured their quirky side. Their subtle colour scheme of navy blue and white pulled together very well and added a classy edge to their Heritage Hall reception. Guests enjoyed authentic glass bottles of Coca Cola as wedding favours, and members of the bridal party got to indulge in some pre-wedding Slurpees with the bride and groom! The homemade photo booth was also a huge hit, and left Natalie and Adam with captured moments they will remember forever! Of course, no wedding is complete without a late night snack, and and the pair won over guests hearts with a Vancouver local favourite, the Tacofino food truck!

Natalie’s tea length traditional white dress had lace details and a fitted empire waist that complimented her curves beautifully. Adams grey suit created a soft contrast beside Natalie, while his blue tie added a pop of fun! Natalie’s bold and springy bridal makeup was done by Prép Beauty Team leader Mika, and her soft 50’s style waves by Faye. Mika did an amazing job of creating a smooth, glowing canvas with bright pink lipstick and a dramatic lash line that had Natalie’s baby blue eyes shining! Fayes pro curls were completed with Natalie’s gorgeous veil pinned on top.

Our Eyelash Extensions are made of synthetic mink, and are applied with sensitive medical grade glue. All of our fabulous eyelash technicians are professionally trained and certified with a minimum of 5 years experience. Consultations take place during the first portion of appointments. Our downtown Vancouver location is conveniently placed in the middle of the city on Hornby and Nelson, with many different options for accessibility and transit. A short walk for most downtown residents and workers, however parking can sometimes be a little tricky, but can usually be found within the block on either Howe or Hornby Street. Alternatively, there is also a paid parking garage located underneath the Sheraton Wall Center, directly across from Prép.
We also offer mobile beauty services! Most hair and makeup appointments can be booked on location at an additional cost. A pre determined travel fee per artist (based on location) is added to your bill, as well as any additional parking fees (per artist). For bookings that take place in locations such as Whistler, Victoria, Hope, Kelowna, etc, overnight accommodation may be required.

As the prom/graduation season is during wedding season as well, artists are high in demand and are available on a first come first serve basis. To secure bookings, a non refundable deposit of 50% of the total bill is required. All prices do not include tax or gratuity (.15%). Bookings starting before 7am are subject to early morning fees (per artist). Consultations and trials are available, please inquire.

Spring 2016 Beauty Trend Forecast at Prép Beauty Parlour

In Vancouver, spring is always an exciting season; the city begins waking up from its winter hibernation, and theres always something new to try! Beauty enthusiasts get especially buzzed as runways around the globe reveal whats in store for the fashion and beauty industry. Most of the makeup trends you would see on a day to day basis are heavily influenced by what takes place on the drawing boards of the worlds biggest designers, and theres no containing our excitement for the upcoming season! Heres what you can expect to see trending this spring in the city

Blue Hues: As seen on the runway at designer shows such as Marc Jacobs and Monique Lhuillier, bold as well as pastel blue shadows and liners will be making a huge comeback this season. Experiment with colour depth by using both soft and bold hues together, or contrast a electric blue liner with a creamy matte lip (also an huge ongoing trend that will carry into this season). Mega Texture: Another trend inspired by what we’ve seen on the runway is texture added to places where it usually wouldn’t. Adding a little glitter is so last season- step it up by adding some real texture. Rhinestones, spikes, geometric appliqués, even intricate facial accessories (Givenchy pictured) will be seen in a lot of print and editorial work, especially haute couture magazines. Small stones applied to the fine tail of the outer eyebrows can create a unique and eye catching highlight, in contrast with a severe contour. French Gone Wild: This trend is already picking up and becoming very popular at Prép! Classic French manicures are jazzed up with fun springy colours and creative designs on the tips instead of a solid white. Prép has a great selection of nail studs, gems, and other appliques. Less Is More: Conturing and highlighting has been a craze in the beauty scene since the popular Kardashian women reintroduced the master techniques into the spotlight a few years back. Many popular makeup gurus on social media rose to fame from simply posting contouring videos, and it has become an everyday makeup essential to lots of people. This season, the focus is less on the contour and more on light, natural looking highlights. The more au natural the better. Bridal Spotlight: Victoria Koby

On Saturday October 24th, Vancouver native Victoria Koby set out into the streets of Yaletown on a mission to wed fiancé Carter Selmes . The day was shaping up to be slightly overcast, with the sun glowing through the clouds. Carter and Victoria met in 2010 through friends at the popular Cactus Club location in Yaletown. Victoria had just moved back from Montreal, and a few months later the pair began dating.
5 years later, the very much in love couple chose one of Vancouvers most vibrant and trendy areas to tie the knot. Yaletowns boho-chic feel is brought together by a breathtaking mix of modern and vintage architecture, unique boutiques, and some of the cities best food! Gorgeous views of False Creek and remnants of the areas railway history created a cozy and romantic atmosphere, the perfect location for these two lovebirds.

The bridal party got ready at the popular Vancouver Opus Hotel, where Prép Beauty Team members Candice and Lisa prépped the ladies for the big day. Lisa kept Victorias makeup simple and stunning. Light pink hues and bronzed cheeks with a sweet but sexy champagne shimmer drew out Victorias eyes and created gorgeous cutting cheek bones in contrast. Her hair was done by Megan Thomas, placed into a simple and fun half up half down do’ that lasted late into the night. The bridesmaids wore simple midnight blue and white gowns. Victorias unique and totally adorable dress is by Truvelle, a wedding gown company based out of Gastown, Vancouver.
